Be the change...

A few months ago, I was listening to the calming drone of my sewing machine and I found myself deep in thought.  The question that I found myself asking was “Why do I do what I do?”

I began thinking about one of my favorite quotes: “Be the change you wish to see in the world “ -Ghandi  and pondering where our business fits into that.  Here is what I decided.  I believe that making things is important for my soul so I make things.  I believe that being able to be self-sufficient, able to problem solve, and using your imagination are important.  We built a business to support ourselves and be self sufficient as well as utilize our artistic talents.  I love the challenge of a problem and being an entrepreneur is all about strategic and creative problem solving.

Our designs evoke emotion in people and spark their imagination because aside from their visual appeal, we don’t have any premade stories about them so our designs become part of the people who buy them and wear them.  I still have no idea why the little boy who buys Pop Monster every year does…he is still too shy to tell me but it is important in his world.  I know that the little girl with the Bewarey  t feels empowered to take on her world and when she wears it, she is ready to conquer the world of her imagination.

In our own little way, we are being the change we want to see…we are helping people laugh, see things differently and sparking their imagination …but most importantly enjoy life!

Why do you do what you do?
